DIY SOS: the big build

We felt very privileged to be able to take part in DIY SOS: the big build, the BBC’s flagship home renovation programme.  When we found out that  the team from DIY SOS were coming to  Hartcliffe to help a local family rebuild their home and their lives we jumped at the chance to be involved.

JeffWay were the lead electrical contractor for the 9 day build and we were able to provide our expertise to the project by providing the services of our MD, Neil Way, Lewis Jones, Scott Waldron and James Fitzgerald. The guys took the show’s electrician, Billy Byrne, AKA the Prince of darkness and the show’s joker, under their wing and made him their apprentice for the duration!

Obviously we are unable to give too much away about the build as the programme isn’t due to be aired until later this year or early 2018, but as well as an extension the entire 3 bed property needed to be completely renovated with all the adaptions and bespoke care provision that would enable the Pollards  to live together as a family once again.

The project was  completed on time and on the day the house was handed back there was not a dry eye to be found. The whole experience was nothing short of life changing both for the family and for everyone that took part, the generosity, goodwill, love and laughter shared among 100’s of trades and volunteers brought out the best in everyone and it was great to be a part of it and give something back to the community.
